George D. Tsopelas is the Chairman & Managing Director of McKinsey & Company, Greece & Cyprus. He joined McKinsey in 1994 and has worked extensively in the banking, insurance, energy and industrial sectors as well as in the areas of public policy and economic development in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has led McKinsey’s seminal “Greece 10 Years Ahead” work (2010-2014) which determined Greece’s economic development and growth strategy overall and across 14 economic sectors. He led McKinsey’s 2020 work supporting the Hellenic Republic in defining measures to mitigate the Covid-19 economic impact and to re-ignite major sectors of the economy. He also leads the Net Zero Greece program defining the optimal path for Greece to achieve its -55% by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050 CO2 emissions target. George holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a BSc in Economics & Econometrics and a BSc in Business Administration.
